This family is in a hopeless situation that they cannot climb out of on their own, and we could not just walk away and claim it’s not our problem, so we are reaching out and asking for help to help them. All donations of any size will add up and be a huge help. Together we can make a meaningful difference in their lives during this really dark and difficult period for them.

This is what we're trying to do: Stella's incontinence supplies are really expensive, and we want to help provide those. We want to help with food and housing costs over the holidays so they can relax knowing they have a little security. We would love to hire someone to come once a week to help Stella bathe and wash her hair. And the ultimate wish is to arrange for physical therapy rehab for Stella. Please read on to learn their story:

We met Reggie nearly two years ago and have gotten to know about him and his family during this time. We learned that they live in motels as they try to navigate the process for getting low-cost housing. Reggie is disabled and cannot work. Without a job he could not find anyone who would rent to them. So instead, he pays day by day at the Motel 6 until something more permanent comes along. At $100+ per day this is a huge monetary responsibility before he can provide food or any other necessities for his family. If there is no money left that day, they don't eat. The weight of this is beginning to take a toll on his health.

Recently he told us that his wife Stella had a stroke. After 2 or 3 months in the hospital and rehab she was released to come “home,” but wasn’t given any of the equipment necessary for her new reality. She has very limited use of her left arm and leg so she cannot walk.  The stroke also took her bladder control so she now needs adult diapers – a large added expense for a family that is already stretched to their limit. She has been home over a month and Medicaid has still not arranged for her to have any home personal care or physical rehab to help her limbs recover.

Son Isaiah is not able to go to school because he needs to stay “home” to help his mom while Reggie is out each day trying to make ends meet. He is challenged by having just one hand but has learned to compensate. He is the nicest, most polite and appreciative young man.

Thank you so very much for your kindness. If you are not able to donate, please keep Reggie, Stella and Isaiah in your prayers.
