My name is Missy, and I am here today to share the story of how our lives were turned upside down by a devastating house fire that destroyed everything we owned. Amidst the chaos, our beloved dog Nala managed to escape but was thankfully found and taken to the local vet while we were rushed to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. After being discharged from the hospital, I frantically called every vet until I finally located Nala. I desperately wanted to pick her up, but unfortunately, she had to spend a couple of nights at the vet while I figured out what we would do. The boarding cost was $25 per day. I couldn't afford that, but I had no other option.
Thankfully, I managed to secure emergency accommodation at a local motel for a few nights, but I couldn't have Nala stay with me. I felt empty and alone. I desperately needed one of Nala's loving cuddles that would help ease the pain. In the days following the fire, I tirelessly searched for options. I had yet to plan for this situation; I barely made ends meet each week, especially since I had just started an online course. Losing my laptop, iPad, and notebooks containing years' worth of writing were now left as memories. I remember the excitement I felt when setting up my desk space, having set out my goals and plans for my future, eager to embark on a personal and spiritual development journey, explore the endless possibilities, work toward success and fulfil my dreams. Well, at least that was the plan...
Life can unexpectedly throw obstacles our way, disrupt any plans you might have had, and ultimately alter our life course. I had no funds to cover rent and bond to start a new lease, not to mention covering the vet bill to pick up Nala. It's been two weeks since the fire, and the financial burden weighs heavily on me.

This situation reminds us to appreciate everything we have and never take it for granted, as it can all be taken away instantly. The money raised will also go towards clothing, necessities, appliances, furniture, and essential household items to help us rebuild our lives.
