It Takes A Village

From Shi Anne

We are a family of 3; Mom, 6 year old daughter, and bonus dad. We are in desperate need of help to make our camper better suited for living before winter hits.

Update #3

I was pulled from work 9-27 until 10-2 due to injuring my hip flexor muscle. My next check is going to be very small.

More Info

For those wondering, the total we are asking for will be used as such:

  • $1,500: Have an inspection of the electrical wiring done.
  • $600: New water heater.
  • $500: Insulating the exterior, windows, and vents for winter.
  • $400: To help with catching up on bills.

We also have an amazon wish-list if you're willing to help with that. I will be updating it as time goes on so the list may change.

In just the past 12 months, we have been hit with:

  • Continuation of major health issues for Austin (Diabetes, Diabetic Neuropathy, Celiacs Disease, Gastroparesis).

  • Me losing my job as an assistant manager.

  • Austin losing his job due to unreliability from health issues, then being bed-rested due to those health issues.

  • Austin starting to feel better, and finding a new job.

  • Being given a Notice of Possession by our apartment complex and given 30 days to move.

  • Austin losing his job due to unreliability from a flare up with health issues.

  • Being homeless for a month while trying to find employment and any possible housing assistance.

  • Finding nothing that we qualify for, and having to take a loan out to help purchase a camper.

  • I found employment that pays decent.

  • Having to move 45 minutes away from new employment and my daughters school because it was the only year-round campground with openings.

  • Making 3 round trips a day, costing us roughly $700/month in gasoline.

  • Losing our assistance due to me 'making too much'

  • Getting locked out of our storage unit.

  • Finding out our water filter needed to be replaced by it flooding underneath of our sink.

  • Our power steering blowing.

  • Blowing 2 tires in two months and having to replace them.

  • Hitting a deer and losing a headlight.

  • Finding out the back wall of our camper needs to be replaced due to an outside seal needing replaced.

  • Hitting another deer a month later and busting our radiator.

  • Risking truancy at my daughters school due to missed days from no vehicle.

  • Finding out that the vehicle is basically totaled.

  • Coming home from work to no power, our power outlet/cord had heated up and burnt. This requires a repair tech, which we called.

  • Electrical fix costing just under $300.

  • More missed work due to injuring my hip flexer muscle.

  • Cold weather starting to hit and realizing that our camper can't handle more than 2 small heaters going at once. (We've been trying to avoid using the actual heater to save propane for hot water)

Yes, this is happening in real time, and I’ll be updating it as it goes on.

We understand the goal total seems like a lot. We hate having to ask for so much, but we haven’t had a chance to breathe for longer than a few days at a time. Catching up is becoming virtually impossible unless we ask for help somewhere. We appreciate anything anyone is willing to donate and will most definitely make sure to pay it forward in the future as we get more settled into life.

Choosing to do an online fundraiser was our absolute last resort. We are very private people and don’t like how cruel the world can be when sharing your darkest moments. So, please, if you’re not here to offer help, move on.

Fundly has 0% platform fees. Our payment partner Stripe charges 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction for credit card processing fees.

Update #1

Our power has been fixed! Unfortunately it knocked us back another $266, but I'm just glad we have power again.
