Mason was recently diagnosed with a genetic mutation (SAMD9L/MDS), which is not curable and will require extensive testing and treatment with a specialist 5 hours away (one way). We do not know what this journey will bring, but we will have to see the specialist in New Orleans routinely, and frequently at first, to determine the stage of his disease process and what treatment he will need to slow the progression of symptoms. Children cannot take a round trip of 10+ hours, plus a specialist appointment, in a 24 hour period. So for Mason's health, we will have to travel and stay overnight for appointments, which is going to be extremely costly since we will be in New Orleans. All donations and prayers are appreciated.
