More Info

Product packaging is the process or result of packing with the help of materials used to protect, preserve, and transport goods. This process plays a vital role in logistics, marketing, and keeping the product in good condition. Various boxes, cans, bottles, containers, and other materials can be used for packing. Specialists in custom ecommerce development can say more about the functions of packaging, its features, and rules for labeling goods.

The reasons for goods packaging:

  • Protecting the product from environmental factors.

  • Facilitates the transportation and storage of goods and ensures the safety and efficiency of logistics.

  • Providing information about the product, composition, and expiration date for the consumer.

  • Attracting consumer attention, increasing brand awareness, and improving product perception.

  • Compliance with the product size (especially for weighing ones) — the buyer does not have to pay for air.

  • Convenient positioning of goods on shelves.

The product shell consists of 3 components — internal (container of the product, for example, a blister with medicine), external (box in which the blister is placed, a bottle with a spray), transport (large box, often filled with material to soften the shock when moving). Packaging plays a vital role in today's business and consumer industries. It affects the safety of the product and its attractiveness to the buyer.

Labeling rules

Product labeling is the assignment of certain signs, symbols, or codes to a product that provides its identification and contains information about characteristics, operating conditions, manufacturers, and other information.

Product labeling regulations vary by country, industry, and specific product types. The common ones are the following:

  • reliability of information;

  • ease of reading, lack of understatement;

  • special characters must be placed on a contrasting background;

  • durability — the marking on the packaging must be preserved and be readable even if it is damaged, faded in the sun, or exposed to adverse temperatures;

  • do not pollute nature.

Some sources also contain requirements for environmentally friendly packaging. Therefore, it is advisable to indicate the method of its processing.
