What better way to run for your favorite charity than to get drenched in paint!?

On June 9th, 2013 I will be running 5 kilometers as a participant of the ColorMeRad run taking place at the Esplanade Financière Sun Life at the Olympique Park. A run that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, a foundation that is very close to my heart. The idea is to run to stay alive, running from 'color bombs' that are being launched every 5 minutes. By the end of the 5k all the runners will be COVERED in multi-colored paint, from head to toe. Dodging bombs makes the run a thrill, and motivates each contestant to take that extra step closer to the finish line.

I chose the color run because not only does it sound like SO MUCH FUN, it more importantly benefits a foundation that has affected me deeply. After a 3 year battle, a mere 6 months ago I lost someone VERY close to me as a result of Leukemia. There's nothing more I'd like to do than to raise money to hopefully find a cure for blood cancers.

I run in memory and in honour of my mother, the strongest woman I've known who lost her battle at the age of 59. I run for those who are currently fighting, for those who have sadly lost their battle, and for all of those who have deticated and devoted their time to taking care of someone who is ill.
